Sawyer Necklace

Sawyer was born on October 16, 2015. When he was 2 months old he was hospitalized for a week with RSV. His breathing never fully improved, and in June of 2016 he was finally referred to an ENT. After a scope and a cardiology review, they determined he had a Left Pulmonary Arterial Sling that would require open heart surgery to repair. Needless to say we were completely shocked, unbelievably terrified, and had just a few weeks to get ready. On July 22, 2016 we handed Sawyer over to an anesthesiologist and sat in a waiting room for 8 hours.

Nothing could have prepared me for seeing him in the CICU after, and even 6 years later I can still clearly picture that moment. We were told that after the surgery Sawyer would spend about 2 weeks recovering in the hospital. Our incredibly strong, brave boy blew everyone away though and we were sent home just 4 days later! Fast forward to now, and Sawyer is healthy and thriving. He crushes his yearly echos, and loves showing off his surgery scar. Aka his “light saber”. Sawyer is an incredible son, brother, friend, and was honored to help design his necklace that encompasses a few of his favorite things.
