Trevor was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 at almost 17 months. SMA is a degenerative, genetic disorder. When Trevor was first diagnosed there were no treatments for SMA whatsoever. A year after his diagnosis he was able to start receiving the first ever FDA approved treatment. Trevor will still most likely never be able to run, walk, or even stand on his own but thanks to the treatment there are smaller hurdles he has been able to overcome :) SMA affects all his muscles so one of the big issues we face are his lungs. We've had 6 long hospital stays to date due to pneumonia and lung weakness. Thankfully we have found a good daily routine to where he has been healthy and hospital free for 2 years now ❤ Trevor is a typical almost 8 year old boy in every other way. He loves sports, super heroes, pirates, video games, hanging with friends, teasing his sisters and chicken nuggets 😊
